Buying a kids' quad in Ireland
A child's first quad is usually bought for a birthday or for Christmas, and the thing parents worry about most is speed. That's why every kids' quad we sell in Ireland comes with an adjustable throttle limiter you can wind almost closed for the first few weekends, a tether cut-off that stops the engine if the rider comes off, and a remote stop button so an adult standing at the gate can kill the engine instantly.
The other worry is what actually turns up. Buy from a UK site and a kids' quad often lands as a crate of parts with a photocopied sheet. We unbox, assemble, set up and ride every quad at our County Cavan base first, so the machine you collect has its brakes bled, tyres at pressure and limiter set for your child's age.
Prices are in euro with VAT included and there are no customs charges to catch you out. If a cable or a plastic ever needs replacing, spares are in stock in Cavan. And if you're spreading the cost for Christmas, the Christmas Club takes a €100 deposit and lets you pay the rest week by week with no interest and no fees.
Questions we get asked
What age is a kids' quad suitable for?
A 50cc automatic quad suits most children from around four years old, provided an adult is supervising and the throttle limiter is wound down. 110cc quads suit confident riders from about eight up to fourteen.
How fast do kids' quads go?
A 50cc quad tops out around 25–30 km/h wide open, but the adjustable throttle limiter lets you cap it far lower for early rides. 110cc machines are faster again, which is why we only recommend them for children who already ride well.
What safety features come as standard?
Every kids' quad we sell has an adjustable throttle limiter, a tether cut-off and a remote engine stop so an adult can kill the engine instantly from a distance.
Do we need a licence or insurance?
Not for private land. These are off-road machines and cannot be taxed or insured for Irish public roads, so they're for your own field or track with the landowner's permission.
What safety gear should we buy with it?
A correctly fitted helmet is essential, then gloves, ankle-covering boots and goggles. A body armour vest is well worth it for younger riders learning on rough ground.
Can we spread the cost?
Yes — the Christmas Club takes a €100 deposit and you pay the balance weekly, fortnightly or monthly with no interest and no fees. We hold the quad until it's paid off.
